Oh, yes, a tribute to Pete is just perfect.
He put this on my Journey in 2005, and I've loved it ever since. He went to the back of my RV, measured out a foot, and nailed a paper plate to the ground (on each side). Then measuring five feet straight back, he nailed more paper plates, totalling 25 feet. Then he came inside, turned on the backup camera, and made a black mark on the screen where each paper plate was located.
Now when I back up, especially backing and turning, I can see exactly where I'm going to go and how far it is away. People are impressed that I back up so well, they don't know I owe it all to Pete.
Pete also fixed a leak from my sewer system. When I opened the cover to attach the sewer hose, a small amount of black water would drain out.
Pete suggested putting in zirks (am I spelling that right?) Anyway, he put in two zirks, and BINGO, no more leaks. Others said to replace the whole valve, and I was able to avoid that. Thanks Pete!!!!!
When I bought the Pressure Pro tire pressure monitoring system, I couldn't always get a signal from the monitors on the towed car. I ordered the external antenna, and Pete installed it. I woke up one morning to find a man UNDER my motorhome, looking for a place to drill a hole. The manufacturer suggested putting the antenna on the roof, but Pete said it would work better underneath, and it has. Thanks Pete for your creativity.
Yes, Pete has made all our lives better - both by the things he does for us and by the terrific person he is. I, too, have been the recipient of a zirk fitting in my black water valve which fixed the fact that it was almost impossible to open and close. I had just mentioned it in passing and he showed up at my door, tools in hand, and asked if I was ready to have him put a hole in my rig.
But I was the most impressed with his generosity when he came to the aid of Ramona. Ramona was a lovely person who, tragically, is no longer with us, but I'm sure she would want to take this opportunity to publicly thank our Pete. We were in Dolores, Colorado, and Ramona developed a leak in her black water tank, inside her van. After hearing the run-around that she was getting from the repair people she called, Pete volunteered to take on the messy job. He took out her toilet, found the crack in the tank and somehow fixed it. That was certainly going above and beyond for a friend. (Oh, and he put it all back together with no leftover parts.)
Thanks, Pete, for being the special person that you are!
